Modular Bus Station

Our concept for this project is safety and security, both from weather conditions and public
situations. The form of our bus shelter is inspired by triangle dish and contains many triangular
elements. The construction of the bus shelter is made by modules, simple in form, but different in
combinations. We want to provide a right to choose the combinations based on available space,
therefore the bus shelter can be from one module wide to four or five. In our project we made the
average bus stop combined with three single modules.
Our challenge is based on extreme weather changes throughout the year in Kazan, Republic of
Tatarstan. It appears that the difference between summer and winter can reach up to 40 degrees
difference, and most of the seasons are wet. Winter is the driest season, however from the end of
November until March the weather contains snow and winds.
Tatar society enhance the traditions a lot, and one of the key aspect of their culture is food. In
their cousine they have one geometrically relevant dish which is called “Echpochmak” (translated
as triangle). It is impossible to avoid this dish notably because the statue of triangle is located in
the city centre near the tourist area, with the idea of telling the whole world about this important
dish.
Even if Kazan is considered one of the most safest city in Russia, there are still some
neighbourhoods which can be dangerous,
especially over night. Therefore the bus shelter should secure people and avoid closed angles, as
well as give maximum visibility to the street.
